Abstract

FIREPROOF SEAT POCKETS

The technical field relates to the problem of burning batteries in an aircraft, especially related to burning batteries in personal electronic devices of e.g. passengers.

Today the problem of burning batteries in A/C is not solved. Especially in cases when it is not possible to suppress the fire, it is a big problem to handle the burning passenger devices during flight.

Important aspects in case of fire in cabin are: Fire; smoke, toxic gases; heat (high temperature) & heat release (amount of energy produced).

Our proposal is to use fireproof bags attached with Velcro to the passenger seats; the seat pockets could also be replaced by these bags. In case of a burning battery event, the device can be placed inside the bag and the bag can be removed from the seat. The intention is that the bag would contain safely the burning batteries resp. the device.
