Abstract

Abstract: The extractable fold down table uses the trolley handling space in front of galleys in order to provide more work deck space for cabin crews. The unit is attached to an opposite cabin module e.g. galley, lavatory, stowage or partition. It's flexible applicable in front of galleys to increase the temporary work deck surface. This helps the cabin crew for their necessary operations during the flight.

1. Technical field

Folding tables are commonly used in aircraft cabin interiors in the vicinity of cabin at-

tendant seats. Usually attached to cabin monuments and consisting of a hinged plate 10

that is folded down for usage. They are limited in size due to simple plate design.

2. Current problem

The known solutions should also flexible applicable in front of galleys to increase the 15

temporary work deck surface. At the moment is the galley work deck area above the

trolley compartment and in front of galley inserts. See Figure 1

3. Problem solution and description of the solution 20

The extractable fold down table is used in certain aircraft cabin layout configurations to

increase work deck space for cabin crews. It uses interaction of two cabin modules next

to each other, in particular a galley and an opposite cabin module e.g; galley, lavatory,

stowage or partition. 25

The extractable fold down table uses the trolley handling space in front of galleys in or-

der to provide more work deck space for cabin crews. The unit is attached to an oppo-

site cabin module e.g. galley, lavatory, stowage or partition, which is usually 39” in front

of the galley. In order to reach the galley work deck the fold down table needs to be ex-

tractable due to the fact that a single piece hinged table would clash with the cabin ceil-

ing in stowed position. With this solution the available word deck space can be drasti-

cally increased, if required by the cabin crew.

It is attached and hinged on the backwall of galley opposite cabin modules usually situ-

ated in a sufficient distance for handling the trolleys. In stowed position the table is also

latched on the backwall of the opposite cabin module. The table can be either flush or

proud mounted. In order to reach and rest on the ga...
