Abstract

In field operations, there has been cases where maximum pressure has been found decreased. This may lead to decreased machine performance. Decreased pressure could result from wrong parameter settings or wrong settings of mechanically adjustable valves. In order to keep track on maximum pressure realization in tree harvesters, a "Pressure Guard" –algorithm is created.

Pressure Guard

1. SCOPE

In field operations, there has been cases where maximum pressure has been found decreased. This

may lead to decreased machine performance. Decreased pressure could result from wrong

parameter settings or wrong settings of mechanically adjustable valves.

In order to keep track on maximum pressure realization in tree harvesters, a “Pressure Guard” –

algorithm is created.

2. PRINCIPLE

Pressures of work pumps are recorded via CAN-BUS. Pressure readings are recorded during ‘Cross

Cutting’ and during ‘Feeding’ and also during ‘All Processing’. Recorded pressures are categorized

with stem diameter and accumulated into matrices. In stored matrices high pressure occurrences are

monitored and if decrease in pressure accumulation is seen, information will be displayed to the

operator. Machine control or performance system is utilized to carry out recording and analyzing

pressure data.

- Monitor accumulation on pressure readings in high pressure zone (zone limits TBD)

- Calculate Average PPC Usage within monitoring interval

- Create an information pop-up if reading accumulation in high pressure zone decreases.

4. TEST CASE EXAMPLES

Case 1. WorkPump2Pressure was recorded w/ raw data logger and in post-processing data was

categorized in pressure classes (grid 5bar). Pressures during Sawing and Feeding was analyzed. Pump
