Figure 1 is a perspective view of a hub of an idler assembly. Figure 2 is an end view of an idler assembly of a prior art arrangement. Figure 3 is an end view of the idler assembly of Figure 1. Figure 4 is a partial section side view of the prior art idler assembly of Figure 2. Figure 5 is a partial section side view of the idler assembly of Figure 3.

Description: As shown in the attached illustrations and described below, a hub arrangement for an

idler assembly that provides for design advantages over the prior art, is disclosed. Figure 1 illustrates various features of a hub for use with an idler assembly of this

disclosure. The idler assembly may be utilized as part of a gear assembly, for example as a gear train assembly of an internal combustion engine.

Figures 2 and 3 illustrate a few of the differences between the hub and idler assembly of the prior art and the hub and idler assembly of this disclosure. Note that in this comparison example the anti-rotation fastener of the hub of the prior art in Figure 2 is shown as an M8 screw, and the anti-rotation fastener of the hub of this disclosure in Figure 3 is shown as an M12 screw. This allows for a greater minimum radial load at which slippage may occur. Also note that the location of the anti-rotational fastener with respect to the offset shaft hole in the hub in Figures 2 and 3.
