Abstract

The invention relates to a guided emergency descent from a machine house and / or a hub of a wind turbine. The guided emergency descent comprises a winch, a steel wire and a steel ball with a hook. One end of the steel wire is fixed on the winch and the other end of the steel wire is connected with the steel ball. The winch is installed on the machine house and / or the hub. The hook is an elastic component, and the hook is squeezed by a walkway grating of the landing platform under the action of the gravity of the steel ball and then occurs to elastic deformation so as to pass through one opening of the walkway. Once the hook has been engaged into the opening of the walkway grating, the hook will restore its original shape and may be securely engaged into the walkway grating. In the case of emergency, firstly, the steel ball will be put down and lowered into a pre-determined position and the hook of the steel ball will be engaged into one opening of the walkway grating; then the operator may attach himself to the steel wire by utilizing a simple carabiner hook; finally, the operator will be guided by the steel wire and safely and quickly land the landing platform.

BACKGROUND

The invention relates generally to a guided emergency descent, and more particularly to a guided emergency descent from a machine house and / or a hub.

In a large open water tank or offshore environment, a wind turbine comprises a pump storage or an offshore turbine. A platform is on the top of the pump storage or the offshore turbine. The wind turbine further comprises a machine house, a hub and a wind turbine tower. The machine house, also known as nacelle, is on top of the wind turbine tower. The machine house has a hatch so that an operator can enter or exit the machine house. The hub is rotatably attached to the machine house and has at least one hatch. A winch may be installed on the machine house and / or the hub. When emergency happens, the operator may need to descend from the machine house and / or the hub as quickly as possible. In the art, for escaping from the machine house and / or the hub, firstly, a protector need to stand at a landing platform; one end of a steel wire is tied to the protector and the other end of the steel wire is fixed on the winch; then the operator may attach himself to the steel wire with a hook and is guided by the steel wire to descend to the landing platform. However, such a kind of solution in the art is quite dangerous.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The invention proposes a guided emergency descent from a machine house and / or a hub. Fig. 1 illustrates the guided emergency descent which comprises a winch, a steel wire and a steel ball with a hook.

In general, one end of the steel wire is fixed on the winch and the other end of the steel wire is connected with the steel ball. The hook is fixed on the bottom of the steel ball. The steel ball is around 10kg of weight and has a much lower coefficient of resistance (cw) value, so that the steel ball will not be dragged far out from the wind turbine tower.

The landing platform comprises a walkway grating. The walkway grating is made of steel or composite. The hook of the steel ball may be engaged into one opening of the walkway grating, as shown in Fig. 2.
