Disclosed is a method that mitigates the violation of industry standard bus specifications during Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design by iteratively checking the bus design to ensure it meets these specifications.  The system communicates with the user that a violation has occurred and suggests methods to correct these violations.

Iterative Analysis of PCB Bus Design with Database

Although planning of the bus design occurs early in the design cycle, due to the complexity and dynamic nature of today's Printed Circuit Board (PCB) designs, it is quite possible to deviate from the original intended design due to the addition of components, movement of existing components, and unexpected changes in system architecture definitions. In doing so, buses may be routed in such as a way as to violate industry standard specifications.

The novel contribution is a method that mitigates the violation of industry standard bus specifications during PCB design by iteratively checking the bus design to ensure it meets these specifications. The system communicates with the user that a violation has occurred and suggests methods to correct these violations.

The core idea of invention includes analyzing electrical signal parameters for bus nets during the routing process to compare against industry standard specifications. If the routed net(s) violates industry standard specification, then the system notifies the user. In addition, it provides an immediate recommendation for meeting the bus specification. The system uses a database for storing industry standard specification data. A second database stores a component library containing component data (e.g., in-house part number, availability, vendor, supplier manufacturer part number, supplier manufacturer datasheet, etc.).
