Abstract

In the present invention, an electronic device is configured to have two VRAM pages. When the electronic device detects the start of a Japanese conversion operation in a window, the electronic device inhibits updates on the data of the window in which a Japanese input operation has been started in the VRAM page for the shared screen. In addition, when the electronic device detects a Japanese conversion function displaying a candidate window to respond to an application that has started a Japanese display operation, the electronic device inhibits updates on the candidate window in the VRAM page for the shared screen.

MEANS TO CONTROL SHARED SCREEN OUTPUT DURING CHARACTER EXCHANGE PROCESS

In the present invention, an electronic device is configured to have two VRAM pages.

In normal operations, the electronic device updates the two VRAM pages with the same data and uses one of them for output to a shared screen and the other for output to a private screen.

When the electronic device detects the start of a Japanese conversion operation in a window, the electronic device inhibits updates on the data of the window in which a Japanese input operation has been started in the VRAM page for the shared screen. In addition, when the electronic device detects a Japanese conversion function displaying a candidate window to respond to an application that has started a Japanese display operation, the electronic device inhibits updates on the candidate window in the VRAM page for the shared screen. As a result, the image on the VRAM page before the Japanese conversion operation starts is continued to be displayed on the shared screen. Meanwhile, the electronic device allows updates on the VRAM page for the private screen to enable the user to perform Japanese conversion.

When the Japanese conversion is fixed, the electronic device detects completion of the conversion or termination of the candidate window of the Japanese conversion function. The electronic device then performs synchronization of data between the VRAM pages including the data of the window in which the Japanese input has been completed, based on the updated VRAM page, to display on the shared screen the image in which the Japanese conversion has been completed. Thereafter, the electronic device performs data update on both of the VRAM pages in the same manner as before.

Such a control scheme for the screen image output from an external output port of the electronic device enables avoiding unnecessary image sharing during Japanese conversion.

Features of the invention are as follows:

- The present invention pays attention to the fact that, when the screen of an information terminal device is shared between attendees and a character conversion operation by a user is in progress, the user performs Japanese input operation only without performing other operations involving screen updates.

- While a character input operation is in progress, since the user does not perform any screen operation other than the character input operation, there is no update on the portions of the screen other than the character input portion in which a character input operation is performed and which needs not be shared.
