Reduced fabric staining All sun care products which meet EC recommendation for UVA protection and contain oil soluble UVA filters such as Diethylamino hydroxybenzoyl hexyl benzoate (DHHB), Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane (BMDBM) or Bis- ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazone (BEMT) cause fabric staining Most market products in Europe (independent from the UVA filter used) inform their customers about the risk of fabric staining when the sunscreen is in direct contact with fabric Stains caused by sunscreens can be removed by repeated washing, best with liquid detergent. Best effects are achieved combination with the use of a pre spotter containing solvents. In case this is no solution dry cleaning will remove stains completely. As the UVA regulation has been implemented in Europe years ago, the “staining issue” of sunscreens is known by consumers. Requests in this direction decreased significantly in the past years. Choice of the filter combination (i.e. incorporation of water dispersible UV filters with efficient UVA protection (i.e. Tris-Biphenyl Triazine and / or Methylene bis- benzotriazolyl tetramethylbutylphenol, Aqua, Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine, Polymethyl Methacrylate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Aminomethyl Propanol -Tinosorb S Aqua), by reduction of oil soluble UVA filters will help.
