Abstract

The collapsible document capture stand (CDCS) is compact in the collapsed state but can be easily expanded to a predetermined length designed such that an A4 document can be seen in it's entirely by the scanner field of view. Further, the CDCS is designed to align quickly and precisely with the base of the presentation stand for the purpose of achieving repeatable results. The collapsible nature of the CDCS makes it convenient to leave in place when not in use or it can be simply removed and stored in a relatively small space. By comparison, the CDCS is roughly 18 inches in length in the useful state and only 4.5 inches in the collapsed state.

Collapsible Document Capture Stand for a Bar Code Scanner

When a user needs to scan a document, the document needs to be set at a precise distance from

the scanner to allow the scanner to properly and quickly focus. Current methods available include

document stands that require calibration upon each use. The time the user has to spend time ensuring that

each stand is placed the optimal distance from the scanner.

The purpose is to provide a compact, easy-to-use, non-permanent document capture stand that

can be used with a scanner presentation cradle. The system must be capable of capturing an A4 sized

document. The document capture stand provides obvious benefits to the customer by making use of

scanner imaging capabilities in addition to barcode scanning.
