Background and Problem Statement

People meet and interact with others from varying backgrounds. Additionally, the settings within which these engagements take place can be very disparate. As a result, on some occasions, not all participants of a discussion are equally knowledgeable of the subject.

For scheduled interactions (e.g., meetings, presentations, etc.) between people of different backgrounds or knowledge-bases, it behooves participants to be able to engage on the topic area and establish a connection on a common subject. A method is needed that allows individuals that desire some background information to discreetly receive the necessary data. In addition, for convenience, the process that initiates the retrieval of the required data should automatically commence.

The novel contribution is a biometrically enabled cognitive system to automatically identify a person’s lack of knowledge on a subject, and then automatically retrieve and provide the necessary data. The system applies a novel method to biometrically determine that the wearer of a smart device is not knowledgeable on a particular subject. The system then applies cognitive algorithms to:

1. Receive and interpret the biometric signals that communicate the wearer’s lack of knowledge on a subject

2. Narrow down the specific subject matter that is pertinent to the individual 3. Engage the content repository system to obtain the necessary data 4. Transmit the necessary data to the wearer of the smart device for consumption

The system applies biometric and cognitive capabilities to the participating objects in the defined environment including the smart device worn by individuals requiring the data and the content repository from which the system retrieves applicable subject matter data.
