A structural carrier is hinge mounted (single pivot (illustrations B) or four bar link (illustrations C)) to the chassis frame and latched to the rear bumper assembly or other structure. The carrier retains the lift assembly in this position while the vehicle is being operated. Tracks are mounted to the carrier to allow the lift table to be extended rear of the tailgate when in the down position. The lift table can be used as cart to bring the load to the truck and then be used as a lift system. The lift table will rest on the ground when used as a lift. The lift table can utilize a conventional screw type four bar link jack system, which can be driven either manually, with an electrical motor or by hydraulics. The spare tire can be mounted to the swing down assembly to facilitate easy access to the tire.
