Abstract
This Backup Cell Status Update System informs the user of the status of the primary and backup cells in a pager. The backup battery level is shown on the Pager's LCD as an Icon. This Icon can be in the form ofa battery, a pie chart, a bar graph, etc. In the example below the status of the backup cell and also the primary cell is illustrated in the form of a battery.

BACKUP CELL STATUS UPDATE SYSTEM

This Backup Cell Status Update System informs the user of the status of the primary and backup cells in a pager. The backup battery level is shown on the Pager's LCD as an Icon. This Icon can be in

Wth this information, the user knows from the Backup Cell Status Update System display that the safe time to remove the primary cell is as shown in Figure A and Figure D. Removing the primary cell when the backup cell level is as shown in Figure B or Figure C will cause the Pager's RAM memory to
be erased. The Backup'Cell Status Update System display prevents the user from losing valuable infor- mation by informing the user that any information stored in the Pager's ram memory must be read before the primary cell can be removed.
