When circuit boards are manufactured in an array format (i.e. multiple printed circuits in the same panel with tabs securing them together), singulation is required aher the printed circuits are populated. A machine is typically used for this process. Some com- mon machines are presses, robot nibblers, or programmable routers. These machines are costly and can damage the boards if not set up properly. The cost involved in wrongly singulating a board not only includes the board but all the components and labor involved in populating the board.
