Abstract

Over the Air (OTA) programming allows a pag- ing operator to remotely change the configurations of a pager or enable or disable a pager by RF signal- ing. When using OTA programming to disable/ enable or reconfigure a pager, a unique password must be entered for each pager to enable the OTA programming option. This protects the pagers from being fraudulently reconfigured. However this fea- A second, higher level password can be added to the existing password such that this 'master' pass- word, when activated, will override all the individ- ual pager passwords and enable the operator to reconfigure all his pagers in a single page.
