Over-The-Air programming is a feature sup- ported by pagers to allow a service provider to pro- gram the codeplug of the pager by sending an OTA page. The OTA page consists of one or more of the following functions: a) disable the pager temporar- ily; b) enable the temporary disabled pager and c) change the feature set on the pager. With regards to these actions, the key point is that whenever the user is affected, he/she must be alerted. As such, after a valid OTA page is received and the appropri- ate commands executed, the pager will give a powerup alert to inform the user.
