receives a serial data stream and sends 10-bit parallel data to a Physical
Coding Sublayer (PCS). The received data stream may not be synchronized to the

code-group alignment. The synchronization process uses the comma pattern in the
received data stream to perform code-group alignment. The ser/des device
continues to shift the code group alignment by one bit until a comma pattern is
