This paper describes improvements in the usage of trunking systems. Existing trunking systems have control and traffic channels. Control channels are used to set-up communication paths for the various users and are occasionally used for short message telegrams, such as emergency transmissions. Very often users are interested in some additional information related to their particular area which may impact their activities, such as traftic load, road constructions, weather, etc. The local character of the trunking system's control channel makes it very useful to add this kind of information for the user's benefit.
