Abstract

Telephone service providers offer many services to their customers or clients. One of those offers is to use somebody’s voice mailbox. At present people leaving a message on a voice mailbox have no way to know whether or when their message has been delivered to the corresponding recipient. It is suggested to inform the sender of a voice mail when his mail actually has been delivered. This may be done by a signal to the sender’s phone e.g. on its display. Other possibilities are notifications like a written message (SMS, Short Message Service) or a voice message (VMS, Voice Message Service). Moreover the person who wants to leave a message could have the option to choose whether he would like to get delivery confirmation or not before the recording starts.
