Clamshell Clutch Solution

Disclosed is a Clamshell Clutch solution.

What is a clamshell?

For the purposes of this disclosure, clamshell is a word that describes how mechanicals operate. For example, clamshell describes how a computer notebook opens and closes.

Note: Although a computer notebook is used throughout this disclosure as an example, the Clamshell Clutch solution is not limited to computer notebooks in any way.

Example computer notebook Clamshell Clutch implementation:

1) Computer notebook is closed.
2) A single display latch button is located at the top center of the notebook display. This button would provide the user with grip (perhaps using rubber and grit like some notebook pointing sticks.)
3) With one hand, the user presses and holds the display latch button. This unlatches the display and releases the Clamshell Clutch. (ie. removes all resistance from the display hinges)
4) User effortlessly positions display.
5) User releases the display latch button. This returns the latch to the normal closed position and activates the Clamshell Clutch. (ie. adds resistance back to the display hinges.)
6) Display can be repositioned with resistance like traditional computer notebooks. Benefits of computer notebook Clamshell Clutch:
1) Single display latch button allows users, using only one hand, to open the display faster than a two latch solution.
2) Display latch button with grip gives users something to easily and securely hold on to while opening the display.
