The present disclosure is directed to a system for using a Parlay Gateway in a real environment, with real phones connected to a public switched telephone network (PSTN), fixed or mobile, without requiring any network elements and no IN (Intelligent Network) connection to this network. A Parlay Gateway is an element of the Parlay architecture, which provides traditional applications (for instance in an enterprise IP network) with an access to telephony capabilities - such as basic Call Control (answer call, make call, etc... - and also with more advanced telephony features - such as User Interaction (digit recognition, playing pre-recorded announcements, etc...).
On one side, the Parlay Gateway is connected to a Parlay client where an application is executed. This Parlay client, which is traditionally an application server, runs for example, in an IP environment in a private corporate network. On the other side, in a real environment, the Parlay Gateway resides on a telecom operator network, and is connected to the various operator network elements (SS7 network elements or other elements), such as an STP (Signaling Transfer Point), an HLR (Home Location Register), etc... The Gateway usually interacts with these elements with SS7 protocols such INAP ( Intelligent Network Application Part), MAP (Mobile Application Part), etc... Demonstration and test of Parlay applications can be done according to the following current solutions :
Connecting to a real Parlay Gateway:
Parlay applications are connected to a real Parlay gateway in a real PSTN environment through a secured IP network. The Parlay gateway must be located in the telecom operator network while telecom operators do not provide open accesses to the interfaces usually used by the Parlay gateway (INAP...). Advantage : This solution offers a real telephony interface and allows live demonstrations. Drawback : This solution depends on a Parlay service provider and is then costly. Using a graphical based PSTN simulator: The Parlay gateway interfaces with a GUI based (Graphical User Interface) PSTN simulator (mainly phones with dial pads). The gateway is located within the Parlay application network. Advantage : The solution is independent from a network operator and is cheap. Drawback : There is no real telephony interface and no voice connection. There is no possibility to run live demonstrations. These two solutions are not completely satisfactory. The present disclosure is directed to a system for connecting a Parlay gateway to the PSTN by means of an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) platform. An IVR is a platform that automatically handles incoming & outgoing calls. It is used for basic automated voice services (weather forecast, news, bank accounts...) and is connected to the PSTN by means of classical open protocols, such as ISDN, SS7-ISUP, Channel Associated Signaling (CAS) or VoIP (...
