Abstract

This discloses a ramp limiter with the slope(*1) that prevents a nose limiter(*2) of Head Gymbal Suspension (HGA) hooking on or hit ramp limiter for load/unload (L/UL)type Hard Disk Drive (HDD). There are no rooms on super small HDD like 1" HDD. By the effect on negative pressure head at unload, head retracts fluttering vertically. Therefore the nose limiter hits ramp limiter, and then head returns to disk. Or in the case of large Outer Crash Stop sway, nose limiter hooks on ramp limiter. In these two cases, actuator cannot release. By adding the taper to ramp limiter [Fig.2], these fatal errors can be avoided. It is confirmed that this slope works well by high speed camera [Fig.1].
