Disclosed is a method of determining the fit of a particular stock number garment being purchased via the internet. The difficulty of purchasing clothing items via the internet is the uncertainty of how well a garment will fit on the person for whom the purchase is intended. This results in either loss of sales or possibly shipping and handling costs associated with returned items. There is prior art available which shows a garment on a personal model (given basic measurements). However, it does not show a specific item (stock number), nor specific size of the item on the model. Different clothing manufacturers have different cuts and also different criteria for their sizing of garments. An XL size shirt from one manufacturer may fit entirely differently than an XL size shirt from another manufacturer on the same model. The disclosed solution extends the prior art implementation to model a specific product and specific size item on the personal model. The manufacturer of the garment would provide standardized information related to cuts and measurements of their products that would enable the seller to correctly model the garment on the customer's model.
