Disclosed is a method of selecting a content based on Web audience ratings to customize a portal site. It aims at providing means for selectioning the best content in a certain category from multiple information sources. A portal site is a specialized Web site which provides a capability to gather contents from multiple systems of service providers, and show them to a user through a virtual desktop in Web browser. The user can customize the content selections based on his/her preferences. However, there are cases that different contents in the same category are provided by multiple service providers. For instance, some portal sites may provide multiple weather forecast contents from different weather forecast service providers. In such case, selecting the best content from similar ones requires the user to take a lot of efforts for viewing and comparing the contents continuously. The method disclosed in this document intends to resolve this problem by adding capability to the portal server of changing the content selection automatically or advising the user a better content based on Web audience ratings. The following figure describes the typical system configuration and operations which implement this method.
