Method for generating page references for HTML links in an HTML document for printing Reading an html document online has the benefit of traversing to part of a document by following a link or a target to a specific section of the document. However, when the same document is printed out as a hard copy for offline viewing, much of this ability is lost. If reading the hardcopy, a reference to a subject would require the reader to flip through the entire document just to look up what is being referenced. This invention would solve this problem by making the tags or links reference be expanded to a page number reference when printed. This solution would require the browser to dynamically analyze the webpages and the printer settings (such as size of paper) to provide the page references. This solution solves the problem by first making a pass on the document to be printed adding in space for page numbers and calculating all the page numbers. It will then make a second pass of the document to expand links to the appropriate page numbers.
