Within Retail Sectors there exists theft and other unlawful acts. This is an ongoing event that's impossible to eliminate and very diffucult to minimize. Security cameras have added an extra security that wards against crimes within the confines of a business. However, even with the security cameras, it's impossible to catch every illegal act that happens within a business. Even when other on-lookers see these illegal acts, there is not much that they can do to stop them, due to possible dangers that may arise. The purpose of the Security Alert Mechanism is to use the resources available within the business, which consist primarily of the consumers, stores security cameras, and its security personel, to help the company reduce illegal acts and catch the culprits, if acts do occur. This Security Alert Mechanism will increase consumer awareness, deter criminals, and increase positive outcomes when criminal acts occur. It utilizes the most abundant resource in the business, ordinary citizens. In the long run, the companies will see a decrease in criminal activities and positive outcomes to unlawful events. The Security Alert Mechanism is a simple button, which is child (tamper) proof, that will be installed at the end of every aisle throughout the store. When a consumer notices an illegal act occuring, they simply go to the end of that aisle where the illegal act is taking place and push the button to activate the security camera and dispatch security personel. Once activated, the security camera will turn its attention to that specific aisle and will begin recording any and all actions taking place. Meanwhile, security personel are alerted to the area where the criminal act is taking place. In the event where the security personel do not arrive in time, they will have the tape with the criminal act for law enforcement. 1
