    Problem: Many Notes applications are comprised of multiple databases and multiple instances of the application may be deployed. For example, a current application is comprised of four databases with an instance deployed in 30+ countries. Each instance shares the same underlying design but has unique tailoring such as NLS settings. It can be very time consuming and error prone to manually build the 120 databases and templates needed to deploy and service all the instances of the application.

Advantages: The time to create and deploy Notes databases and templates is reduced since no manual intervention is required and errors are eliminated. A log is also created for each build to allow for activity tracking.

The following is a screen capture of the Notes Deployment Builder opened to the "Build Files" view. A build file document exists for each database or template which must be built and is created by the user. The build file document stores information necessary for building the database or template so that it may be repeatedly built the same way. To build any databases or templates, the user simply selects the appropriate build file document(s) and clicks the "Build Selected File(s)" button.
