Abstract

To provide a platform for gambling among the participants of a certain intelligent network, we present the following gambling service: a participant (who must be owner of a prepaid-account) bets for one or more certain events and is charged a basis fee for betting. If the participant wins, he receives an amount of money on his prepaid-account, else his paid basis fee is lost. Practically, the service provider offers a certain bet via a universal access number (e. g., 0-800- GAMBLE). This call is routed to the Service Control Point (SCP). The SCP decides whether the participant has access to the service (blacklist and whitelist mechanism). If so, i. e. there is sufficient credit on the prepaid account and the participant is a legal subscriber of the gambling service, the participant can make the bet on his device via DTMF with the possible extension of confirmation via SMS (Short Message Service). Then the basic fee is subtracted from the participant’s account.
