Abstract

In a turbomachine blades are provided with borings arranged in the vicinity of the wall of the inner housing and/or the rotor of the turbomachine. The borings each extend from the pressure side to the suction side of a blade. Alternatively, blades with cover bands and associated cavities for labyrinth seals have borings that extend from the main flow path in the turbomachine through the cover band and to the exit cavity of the labyrinth seal. The borings effect a reduction of secondary flows and losses related to such flows.
