  Prolonged computer servicing time can have a significant impact on a company's profitability due to the warranty expense associated with the repair time. Any reduction in duration of repair (DRA) lowers warranty expense. Today, there exists no analogous tool determination and isolation system which could further reduce DRA by eliminating the trial and error methods employed by servicers to locate the correct tool for the repair, or eliminating browsing through hundreds of pages of documentation to find the desired tool.

Following, 3 independent embodiments describe how the invention achieves an advantage over the current service task process:

1. For tools that have handles, a wireless LED is molded inside the handle (if translucent), or on the handle. The LED is controlled by a wireless transmitter resident on the host computer. When a particular tool is required for the current service task, the controller lights the LED associated with that tool. This embodiment would be particularly useful for tools that are housed in a disorganized tool box.
