Optimal IQ Map

An x-ray examination apparatus comprising a stand which carries an x-ray source and an x-ray detector. The stand is moveable to irradiate the patient to be examined from several orientations, notably from several rotations and angulations.

An optimal view map is constructed that represent the expected image quality as a function of orientation. For example the optimal view map is a two dimensional plot of IQ against rotation and angulation.

The optimal view map is displayed on the user interface of the x-ray examination apparatus.

The displayed optimal view map provides an easy reference for the operator to select orientations of the stand. Hence, less experienced and less skilled operators achieve good image quality.
