Abstract
A detection system operatively associated with a conveyor system is disclosed herein for detecting the presence of a sheet of support material thereon, Sheet 10 advances on belt 12 to engage actuator 14, Actuator 14 pivots and rotates cam 16, As cam 16 rotates, lever arm 18 pivots in an upwardly direction closing switch 20.

a sheet of support material thereon, Sheet 10 advances
on belt 12 to engage actuator 14, Actuator 14 pivots
and rotates cam 16, As cam 16 rotates, lever arm 18
pivots in an upwardly direction closing switch 20.
Belt 12 is entrained about a pair of opposed spaced
rollers 22. Switch 20 is periodically interrogated to
determine its state. If switch 20 remains in the closed
state beyond a preselected time duration, a jam is
indicated,
