In a xerographic development apparatus 1 for use in pro~ ducing color images, registration of the component colors is improved by the use of a dimensionally stable intermediate transfer member 2, Component colors such as e.g. cyan, yellow, magenta and black are syncronously developed onto xerographic drums 6 and transferred in registration onto dimensionally stable intermediate transfer member 2 at stations 5. The composite color image is then transferred to a receiving surface 3, such as paper, at a transfer station 4. Member 2 is held in registration at stations 5 by a hole~and~sprocketarrangement. Sprockets on the edge of development drums 6 engage holes in the edge of member 2.
