Abstract
Disclosed is a fastening clip for retaining the end portion of a web, such as film, upon a reel, The fastening clip 51, as shown in Figure 1, includes on each of its outer surfaces a plurality of serrations 50, and protuberances in the form of nipples 52, The fastening clip is used with a reel 53 having film thereon as shown in Figure 2. The reel includes a plurality of indentations 54 which are sized to allow nipples 52 to be inserted therein and lock clip 51 in place. The indentations are substantially circular in shape, ar- ranged in linear form, and extend radially from the hub of the reel, preferably along each of the inner surfaces along reel flanges 55 and 56. Instead of employing separate in~ dentations on the reel flanges, a plurality of concentric circular grooves can be used on each of the inner surfaces of the two flanges. In this embodiment the width and depth of each of the grooves are such as to allow nipples 52 to be inserted therein and lock clip 51 in place.
