An induction imaging method and apparatus which avoids air breakdown problems is disclosed. The imaging method comprises first providing, a. photoconductive surface 10 with an electross. static latent image 12 thereon. A dielectric web 11 is positioned against the photoconductive surface and a corona device 18, preferably a DC biased AC corOtron, is used to induce the electçostatic latent image. Onto the web. The web is positioned in intimate contact with the surface .and a first conductive roller 20 and separated from the photoconductive surface onto the firSt roller. The first roller is biased at a potential sufficient to prevent charge trsnqfer from the sure face to the web. The web is then positioned in intimate con-tact with the first roller and a second conductive çoller 20A, and separated from the first roller onto the second roller. The second roller is also biased at a potential sufficient to prevent charge transfer from the first roller 20 to web 11. Thereafter, the electrostatic image formed on the web is de-r veloped by a liquid developing systel wherein the web is first positioned in intimate contact with second roller 204 and is developed by a biased gravure development rolLer 20. The de-veloped image is then transferred from the Web . to' a receiving member 21.
