Abstract

A flexible tape 1 electrical connection is provided to a paper tray 2 for a tray heater or the like, which paper tray 2 must be pulled out for refilling from a copier 3, yet where only a very limited space is available in the copier adjacent the tray. A spring 4 and roller 5 tensioning device holds the electrical conductor tape 1 closely alongside the tray 2 as it is pulled out of the machine, As the tray is returned inside the copier 3, the spring 4 tension automatically retracts the tape. The tension is maintained by the roller 5 pulling against a narrow bight or loop of the tape 1 opposite the tray slide-out direction. The spring 4 itself may be passed 900 around another roller (not shown) to place it behind the tray for further space saving.
