A print wheel has a central hub 10, a plurality of radially disposed spring members 12 supporting a hub ring 14 on the central hub, and a plurality of radially disposed beams 16 supported by the hub ring and each supporting a type slug 18. This design allows the hub ring to move during the print operation thus minimizing the problem of large beam deflection required to obtain a wide printing throat.
