An electrostatographic imaging apparatus is disclosed in the figure including an imaging member 1 with a surface capable of retaining an electrostatic image, a donor member 8 with a sur-face 13 capable of supporting a layer of particulate image developing material 19, and means 14 for maintaining the sur-face of the donor member in close proximity to the surface of the imaging member at area 21. The means 14 on the donor member comprises a plurality of discrete, raised, micro-pin elements for self-spacing the donor member from the imaging member.
