Sheet slitting apparatus used for slitting a large 11 x 17 inch sheet into two 8 1/2 x 11 inch standard size sheets. Apparatus 10 includes a plurality of belt members 12 supported on rollers 14 and 16 which are driven at an appropriate speed when a sheet S is fed thereto. Each of the belt members 12 is arranged with a clamping member 25 secured in any suitable manner as by an adhesive. Clamping member 25 is made of a flexible material to effect a desired clamping action at the lead edge of sheet S. Guide members 30 serve to close clamping member 25 along the lead edge of sheet S which is advanced past slitting wheel 42 to effect the slitting operation. Pick off fingers 50 serve to direct the slit sheets from the belt members.
