In applying heat-activatedlabels which have been addressed using a xerographic process, it is difficult to melt the heat-activatedadhesive without melting and offsetting the toner onto the heating surface. To obviate this, an oil impregnated roller 3 is mounted to rotate freely when in contact with the heated surface 5 of rotatable heat wheel 4. Roller 3 applies a thin film of oil to the heated surface 5 of wheel 4 which prevents offsetting of the melted toner from the labels onto the heat wheel surface.
