A dicorotron (dielectric-coated corotron) may be directly mounted onto a shield with an AC source connected to the wire and a DC bias applied to the shield, thus, producing net DC current delivered to the surface to be charged. The advantages of this configuration are the elimination of any wire vibration problems encountered with conventional corona wires as well as easy cleaning when operating in a toner-laden environment.
