To enable direct control over the data bit position for writing by individual styli of a stylus-type printer and to permit integrating the control on the stylus array itself thereby eliminating the need for several hundred wires or in the alternative matrix switching, an integrated stylus assembly is disclosed. Control over the power pulse is achieved by external request following completion of bit transfer. With power supply pulsing on a line basis, a low duty cycle for the power supply is achieved, reducing the need for higher cost supply.
