A single row gradient index lens array can be constructed with minimum exposure modulation for given gradient index fiber parameters A, L. The exposure modulation can be minimized for a unique value of the fiber spacing parameter b given by the expression
b = - sec(fi L/2)
where and length fiber the is L constant, fiber index gradient the is A 2, 3, . . . The center-to-center fiber spacing is 2bR, where R is the fiber radius. S = 1,
The fiber radius can be increased to increase exposure without affecting the modulation.
