Xerox Disclosure Journal
This disclosure relates to a restraint device for a sleeved rubber pressure roll in a nip forming fuser roll system. As illustrated in the figure, the shaft 10 of a pressure roll 12 carries a flat end washer 14 which contacts the end 16 of the pressure roll. A three wave wavy spring 18 held in place by a containment ring 20 positively loads the end washer by a predetermined amount to increase the nip between the fuser and pressure rolls at the roll/paper ends. The increased nip at the roll ends controls the copy sheet velocity through the nip thereby precluding wrinkling of the paper.
