A system for correcting paper alignment and skew while documents are being fed at various speeds is disclosed in the figure. A document 25 is fed by belts 13 at a given speed and timed to catch up and come in contact with two stops or fingers 20 synchronized with each other and traveling at a known speed which will be slightly less than the document feed speed. This action causes the document to buckle slightly and at the same time correct any skewness of the document. After this correction, the document is captured by the belts and fed onward after the stops are removed from the paper path.
