Abstract

The optical disk described herein emulates the Phillips trilayer disk. However, this optical disk uses second surface ablation rather than first surface ablation as for the Phillips disk. The media is a solar black material such as black Au (gold) or black Cr (chromium) and the reflector layer is Au (or Cr). The optimal thickness of the black Au and Au layers can be determined through experimentation.. The Si02 thickness is 1/4 the wavelength of the laser light used for the reading process.
