A development system for use in an electrophotographic printing machine having a developer housing defining a chamber for storing a supply of developer material therein. A pair of augers are disposed in the chamber of the housing. A paddle wheel is interposed between the augers. The paddle wheel is located at the end of one of the augers and in line with the input of the other auger. The paddle wheel is fixed to the end of the first auger, and is driven by the rotation of that auger. The paddle wheel rotates at a high speed, preferably about 500 rpm. The developer material exiting one of the augers enters the paddle wheel and is fluidized and thrown to the input of the other auger for continued advancement.
