In a color electrophotographic printing system using a plurality of photoconductive drums, it is necessary to write on each of the charged photoconductive drums with a modulated laser beam. Hereinbefore, one laser was used for each photoconductive drum. The beam from each laser was independently modulated to record different latent images on each of the photoconductive drums. The present system uses one laser for all of the photoconductive drums. The laser beam is split into multiple beams and each beam is transmitted onto a single polygon and folded, using mirrors, onto the correct photoconductive drum. In this way, a single laser may be used to record multiple independent images on different photoconductive drums.
