Abstract
The present proposal addresses the use of a full width aperture plate for full width print bars. The aperture plate serves to improve drop directionality by providing a nozzle having a radial symmetry that replaces the bilateral symmetry of current nozzles. Butt joints, at the nozzle surface, are eliminated thereby preventing the drop directionality effects of butt joints in colinear arrays comprised of butted subunits.

The proposed use of the aperture plate enables the nozzles to be made hydrophobic without contaminating the channels. The wide aperture plate provides a tough, homogeneous surface allowing for vigorous maintenance procedures that do not cause damage to the nozzles.
