Abstract

Proposed is a translating finisher nip that positions dBerent size sheets of paper for presentation to a registration system. The accompanying figure schematically illustrates the finisher nip 10 positioned between processor 24 and registration system 26. Nip 10 comprises a shaft 18 having rollers 20 mounted thereto. A servo-controlled motor 16 starts, stops and accelerates nip 10 to provide set integrity. A translating motor 22 moves nip 10 along a gear rack 14 to optimally position each paper size at the registration system.
