ORGANIC COATING TO PASSIVATE ELECTROFORMED FILTER AGAINST INK ATTACK

Proposed is the passivating of a screen filter for a Thermal Ink Jet (TIJ) device to prevent interactions with polar, waterfast inks. The passivation is accomplished with an organic coating using a electrophoretic deposition technique. Two important aspects of the coating are: that it be deposited on the entire three-dimensional surface of a nickel screen, and that it be thin enough so as not to block the pores.
